The recruiting information contained on this site is information about student/athletes BELIEVED to be targeted by Miami University for various varsity athletic sports. The lists are far from complete and are not officially endorsed in any way by Miami University, its coaches or administration.

These pages will be updated as information is made available. Information may not be complete or timely and is compiled by newspaper articles, internet recruiting sites, and, of course, by Miami Hawk Talk Field Reporters. Players may "verbally" commit to a program, however, such committment is not binding until officially executing a "National Letter of Intent" (NLI).

Miami coaches and or its staff are not permitted to discuss or comment on potential recruits until after the signing of a NLI. The signing period for fall sports such as football begins in early February and runs until early April; basketball and other winter sports have an early signing perdiod in mid-November and a late signing period from April to May.

2009 Target: Sanford averaged 12.7 points per game last season as a junior.  Besides Miami, he is getting attention from several colleges including Vanderbilt, VCU, Eastern Kentucky, Notre Dame, Minnesota, Louisville, Dayton, Western Kentucky, Gardener Webb, South Florida, Cincinnati and West Virginia.Rival$ Profile....... The 6-foot-3 Sanford is really improving and has turned into one of the state’s elite players. He was invited to Kentucky’s Elite Camp but didn’t attend. He mentioned South Florida and Virginia Commonwealth as the school’s recruiting him the most but said he really wants to attend Cincinnati and will play in the Cincy Elite Camp next week. His father Vince Sanford signed with UK and played three years of college ball at South Florida.

You won’t often find Lexington Catholic senior-to-be Vee Sanford on the spring/summer AAU circuit. The 6-foot-3 guard is busy working on his individual skills.

His father, Vince, said they are “trying to work on everything to get him ready for college.”

Sanford talked his father into letting him play in the State AAU Tournament this weekend and he looked much improved, playing for the winning 17 & under Shining Stars - Stowers team.

Showing a nice touch from outside and the ability to slash to the basket, Sanford had 15 points to help the Shining Stars team beat the Derek Smith All-Stars 72-67 in the title game.

The elder Sanford played at Lafayette and originally signed with Kentucky out of high school. He later transferred to South Florida and played there for three years.

Vee Sanford is garnering a lot of interest. Notre Dame, Minnesota, Vanderbilt, South Florida, Eastern Kentucky, Morehead State, Murray State and William and Mary are showing interest. He’s been invited to elite camps at Kentucky, Virginia Commonwealth, West Virginia, Cincinnati and Western Kentucky.

Lexington Catholic has three of the state’s top senior players, but what some folks might not realize is the Knights also have a standout junior.

Vee Sanford is a 6-foot-3 junior transfer from Lafayette who has helped make a difference for the Knights. He’s averaging 12.7 points and has 89 assists, 83 steals and 74 blocked shots.

Sanford had a sensational game against University Heights in the Sweet 16 opener, including 22 points, seven steals and seven rebounds. He hit 7 of 17 from the field, including 4 of 7 three-point field goals. He’s hitting 34.9 percent from three this season.

“I just want to keep playing and try to win a championship,” Sanford said.

Sanford will be one of the top seniors next season and his recruitment will get interesting this summer. He mentioned a few schools, including Virginia Commonwealth.

Vee Sanford (Lexington Catholic High, Lexington): Out of everybody in this class Vee might have the highest upside. He is a 6’3” point guard with a high motor, great athletic ability and a clutch jump shooter. With all the stars on Lexington Catholic last year in many games he was their best player on the floor. Vee has great genes with his dad being a high school All-American with offers from UK and Georgia Tech back in the day. With all his talent when Vee really learns the game the sky’s the limit.
