About Miami Hawk Talk Recruiting Information

The recruiting information contained on this site is information about student/athletes BELIEVED to be targeted by Miami University for various varsity athletic sports. The lists are far from complete and are not officially endorsed in any way by Miami University, its coaches or administration.

These pages will be updated as information is made available. Information may not be complete or timely and is compiled by newspaper articles, internet recruiting sites, and, of course, by Miami Hawk Talk Field Reporters. Players may "verbally" commit to a program, however, such committment is not binding until officially executing a "National Letter of Intent" (NLI).

Miami coaches and or its staff are not permitted to discuss or comment on potential recruits until after the signing of a NLI. The signing period for fall sports such as football begins in early February and runs until early April; basketball and other winter sports have an early signing perdiod in mid-November and a late signing period from April to May.

2010 Prospect: Brust is a combo guard who does everything:  push up the floor, hustles, can hit the trey.ESPN Profile

October, 2007: Ben is a developing lead guard. He makes good decisions and gets on the floor for loose balls, sets up teammates for open looks and knocks down the three with his feet set. He understands how to play and does a good job of always moving. His also changes speeds when pressured to keep his defender off balance. A good shooter from all areas of the three point line who uses screens well.

Iowa freshman guard Cully Payne and Hawkeyes recruit Ben Brust, a Mundelein senior, have yet to make a decision about their collegiate futures following Monday’s firing of coach Todd Lickliter, according to their former Rising Stars AAU coach Mike Weinstein.

“Both are excited about Iowa basketball, but both have to wait and see how this turns out,” Weinstein said.

Payne, a Schaumburg graduate, was Iowa’s starting point guard this season and averaged 8.7 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.8 assists. He had a career-high five 3-pointers and 25 points in the Hawkeyes’ loss to Michigan in the Big Ten Tournament.

Brust, a 6-foot-2 guard, was named to the ESPNChicago.com all-area team after averaging 25 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals this season for Mundelein.
