Anthony Elzy

Position RB Height 5-10 Weight 205 40 speed 4.45 School JFK H.S. Hometown Warren, OH Incoming Year 2006

Initially posted by NickSkin on 04/18/05 at 9:51 am

Last season Anthony carried 242 times for 2,443 yards with 30 touchdowns to earn All-Ohio honors in Division V.  It was enough to earn him first-team all-conference, all-county and all-state honors.  Maryland, North Carolina and BG are the colleges that have offered Elzy a scholarship, while Miami and Akron also look close to extending an offer.  “I am hoping to make an early decision,” Elzy said. “I am looking first at academics and how their program is run. Also, how the coaches react to their players and what their coaching style is like. I just want to find the right fit and then I’ll commit.” Academically, Elzy currently carries a 2.7 GPA and he scored 16 on the ACT.  Was named Ohio co-offensive player of the year for Division V (the state’s second smallest school classification). Smart, tough, Curtis Martin-type of player.  Considered the #30 player in Ohio.
UPDATE 5/5/05: A big fast back who should play in college around 215-220.  Here’s what his coach says about his style: “He’s a slasher, he’s got power, he’s got quickness … he’ll make ‘em miss, but he’ll run you over if necessary,” said Napolet. “But as the year progressed, he got so good as seeing and ducking people, lowering the shoulder and stiff arming, it’s like he’s a natural.” Current offers from Miami, N.Carolina, Maryland, Akron and Bowling Green while he is garnering a lot of attention from Michigan, ND, Ohio State, Syracuse, Illinois and Iowa.  Favors UNC (offer), Mich, and ND currently.
UPDATE 6.13.05: Michigan and ND are favorites but those 2 have not offered.  Of the schools offered, Anthony favors UNC, Miami and Pitt.  The other schools that have offered are Akron, BG, Maryland, EKU, Kentucky and Marshall.
