About Miami Hawk Talk Recruiting Information

The recruiting information contained on this site is information about student/athletes BELIEVED to be targeted by Miami University for various varsity athletic sports. The lists are far from complete and are not officially endorsed in any way by Miami University, its coaches or administration.

These pages will be updated as information is made available. Information may not be complete or timely and is compiled by newspaper articles, internet recruiting sites, and, of course, by Miami Hawk Talk Field Reporters. Players may "verbally" commit to a program, however, such committment is not binding until officially executing a "National Letter of Intent" (NLI).

Miami coaches and or its staff are not permitted to discuss or comment on potential recruits until after the signing of a NLI. The signing period for fall sports such as football begins in early February and runs until early April; basketball and other winter sports have an early signing perdiod in mid-November and a late signing period from April to May.

2008 PROSPECT: Maurice is the son of former NBA player Phil Hubbard, who played for the Cleveland Cavaliers and Detroit Pistons and currently serves as an assistant coach for the Washington Wizards.  He played college ball at Michigan, where he was the lead member of the Wolverines’ 1976 Final Four team. Maurice Hubbard was a fourth team all-area pick by the Washington Post last season. He averaged 19 points and 10 rebounds per game. Last summer, Hubbard participated in the Reebok ABCD Camp in Teaneck, N.J.  Hubbard has been highly recruited and the list of schools that have been attached to his name is fairly long – Virginia, Virginia Tech, VCU, DePaul, George Mason, Saint Joseph’s, Fordham, Richmond, and Ball State. He has reportedly made visits to Temple, St. Joe’s and VCU.

Plays AAU for Boo Williams
Participated in the July 2007 NBPA Top 100 Camp.  Here’s an evaluation of his play after the recent Boo Williams event:

"Takes the ball to the hole very well… great first step… powerful player… teams will have trouble stopping his power game from the wing area… good, strong rebounder… excellent offensive rebounder… He was Player of the Year in his conference.
