About Miami Hawk Talk Recruiting Information

The recruiting information contained on this site is information about student/athletes BELIEVED to be targeted by Miami University for various varsity athletic sports. The lists are far from complete and are not officially endorsed in any way by Miami University, its coaches or administration.

These pages will be updated as information is made available. Information may not be complete or timely and is compiled by newspaper articles, internet recruiting sites, and, of course, by Miami Hawk Talk Field Reporters. Players may "verbally" commit to a program, however, such committment is not binding until officially executing a "National Letter of Intent" (NLI).

Miami coaches and or its staff are not permitted to discuss or comment on potential recruits until after the signing of a NLI. The signing period for fall sports such as football begins in early February and runs until early April; basketball and other winter sports have an early signing perdiod in mid-November and a late signing period from April to May.

Rivals reporting that Phil is a Redhawk!

Here’s an evaluation from ESPN’s Scout’s, Inc. that has Phil rated as the #48 OG in the nation with a scout’s rating of 74

"Manley has experience as both a guard and tackle, but seems best suited as a guard at the college level. He comes across on film as big thickly built kid. He seems almost twice the size of everybody else on the field. He can be a guy that can create some running lanes. He makes good initial contact and gets adequate hand placement. He has a tendency to play high, but will display the ability to generate some power from his lower body on contact and get push. When he gets into a defender is capable of getting movement. He needs to play with better pad level. When he blocks down he can bury a defender. He does a solid job of pulling and kicking out. He is adequate at working up to the second level and getting a piece of moving targets. He is not very pretty at times in what he does, but seems to kind of push around and bully defenders. As a pass blocker he can sit in anchor. He displays the ability to mirror a rusher in the short area. He can sit in there and absorb a blow from a rusher, but needs to uses his hands a punch. He also needs to be sure to keep his shoulders square. Manley is a big prospect with some upside. His film was not of great quality and could be a kid to revisit as a senior."
