About Miami Hawk Talk Recruiting Information

The recruiting information contained on this site is information about student/athletes BELIEVED to be targeted by Miami University for various varsity athletic sports. The lists are far from complete and are not officially endorsed in any way by Miami University, its coaches or administration.

These pages will be updated as information is made available. Information may not be complete or timely and is compiled by newspaper articles, internet recruiting sites, and, of course, by Miami Hawk Talk Field Reporters. Players may "verbally" commit to a program, however, such committment is not binding until officially executing a "National Letter of Intent" (NLI).

Miami coaches and or its staff are not permitted to discuss or comment on potential recruits until after the signing of a NLI. The signing period for fall sports such as football begins in early February and runs until early April; basketball and other winter sports have an early signing perdiod in mid-November and a late signing period from April to May.

Jarrod Jones

Position PF Height 6-7 Weight 215 School Michigan City Hometown Michigan City, IN Incoming Year 2008
Offered By Indiana State, Marist, Valparaiso, and Xavier

2008 PROSPECT: After a great deal of attention in the fall and into the school year, Jarrod Jones followed up with a junior year which landed him on the junior all-star team.  The 6’8” forward from Michigan City played as a member of the north group and had a good showing.  The next night at Notre Dame, playing in an open gym with the Irish players, Jones fell and broke his leg.  He has since had surgery to have a rod placed in his leg, and his rehabilitation should be three to four months.  That will put a bit of a damper on his recruiting, as his summer is essentially over, but his potential and physical attributes are still there.  Going into July, Jones reports he has offers from Indiana State, Marist, Valparaiso, and Xavier.  He was also quick to point out that Xavier had taken a recent commitment, leaving them without any available scholarships currently for the 2008 class.  Notre Dame had certainly planned on taking a good look at Jones during the month of July, and he had also visited Loyola in June.  As he heads into the fall, he is also getting calls from Indiana, Iowa State, Kansas State, Loyola, Miami, Minnesota, Purdue, and Western Michigan.  While his injury will slow down his recruiting, especially with the high majors which had yet to see enough to offer, a full recovery is expected.  Jones will be a definite all-star candidate next year with a healthy leg.
