2008 PROSPECT: Tyler is a 3-sport star that really excels at track.  6.23.07 StLouisToday.com article outlines Tyler's attributes.  He recently finished first in the 110-meter high hurdles with a time of 14.17 seconds at the state meet and was second in the 300s. In addition, he combined with Previn Perry, Chris Thames and Charles Dunbar to finish third in the 800-meter relay in a school-record time of 1:28.89.  After having such a good junior season overall, Shaw is running for the St. Louis Express Track Club for the first time. He finished first in the 110s last weekend in his age group at the AAU Regional Qualifier in Festus. His time was 13.97, a new personal record.  Shaw, who did a little bit of everything for a solid Lutheran North grid team last year before finally settling in at quarterback, said he doesn't know if he's ready to commit yet. He said he also has been recruited by Wisconsin, Miami of Ohio, Mizzou, Iowa and Tennessee Martin. He scored seven touchdowns, rushed 51 times for 333 yards, completed nine of 18 passes and had three TD passes on offense and 31 tackles on defense for Lutheran North's grid team last year. He was a big reason why the Crusaders went 9-3 and advanced all the way to the state quarterfinals before losing 32-21 to Owensville.  At Arkansas, the coaches were working him out at the wideout and defensive back positions. He said he was timed at 4.5 in the 40-yard dash.

"I'm thinking I'll probably make a decision on where I'm going in the middle of the school year

But Shaw hasn't totally given up on basketball, either. He started last year at a guard spot and had solid numbers. He averaged 6.8 points and 4.1 rebounds and was a big reason the Crusaders finished 16-11 overall and 10-2 in conference play, tying for first in the ABC League.
