ESPN anaylsis:
Cruse may not be the quickest or fastest wide receiver, but he has great size, tremendous hands and focus, and quarterbacks will love his ability to make the clutch catch in traffic or on the jump ball. He has great height and long arms. Speed is average, but he is deceptive and builds speed as he climbs the ladder. Uses his size to win downfield when he can’t separate. He is a long strider who is strong and physical after the catch. Has enough quickness to make the first defender miss and then stiff arm others for extra yards. Uses his hands well at the line and lumbers downfield to gain position. Uses his elbows and shoulders well to subtly push off and separate at the top of the stem. His hands are sensational, and he plucks effortlessly. He will body catch or cradle at times, but he catches everyhting thrown his way—behind him, high, low and one handed—he’ll get it. He is a great red-zone target on fades and shows good body control to adjust to balls thrown to the outside and high. The problem with Cruse is his lack of great speed. He is a not a quick-twitch kid and may have some separation problems at the next level versus tight man coverage. Needs to move into the slot to complement speedier wide outs outside. He has a great feel for finding the ball and getting open so his instincts would be best utilized inside. Overall, Cruse is hard not to like, you just wish he were more explosive to be a big-play guy at the next level the way he is in high school.
