About Miami Hawk Talk Recruiting Information

The recruiting information contained on this site is information about student/athletes BELIEVED to be targeted by Miami University for various varsity athletic sports. The lists are far from complete and are not officially endorsed in any way by Miami University, its coaches or administration.

These pages will be updated as information is made available. Information may not be complete or timely and is compiled by newspaper articles, internet recruiting sites, and, of course, by Miami Hawk Talk Field Reporters. Players may "verbally" commit to a program, however, such committment is not binding until officially executing a "National Letter of Intent" (NLI).

Miami coaches and or its staff are not permitted to discuss or comment on potential recruits until after the signing of a NLI. The signing period for fall sports such as football begins in early February and runs until early April; basketball and other winter sports have an early signing perdiod in mid-November and a late signing period from April to May.

2007 PROSPECT: Young (SO), a 6-foot-6 (200) from Sacramento, CA is a "tweener" who had committed early to Marshall University but with the coaching change has decided to go elsewhere for next season.  Played for Coach Swafford at Sacramento HS and had one of the best teams to come out of Sacramento in recent years. They finished 30-3 and were a game away from the state championships when Coach Swafford benched the teams top player Kevin Galloway for missing a class and Sac High lost by 2 in the State Nor-Cal finals.  Demetrius had a fine senior season for the Dragons averaging 11.5 points and 10.6 rebounds. He was named All-Capital Athletic league and second team All- Metro. Demetrius was also named to both area all-star games. "D" moved back to a more natural four position as a Sophomore enabeling him to do what he does best; Run the floor and rebound the ball with unbelievable athleticism. After playing last summer in the Sacramento Pro Am with current pro's and Division 1 players, "D" raised the level of his game.

"Demetrius is a very long athlete that's a jumping jack. He had close to 75 dunks this season and he really hits the glass on both ends of the floor.  He scores 90% of his points in the paint"
- Doug Cornelius, Head Coach of Yuba.  Demetrius was the Bay Valley Conference MVP this season along being a All-State Selection.  Young averaged 18.1 ppg, 10.9 rebounds and shot a unbelievable 69.3% (239-345) from the floor this season. He scored 836 points in his 63 career games at Yuba College. Young made all-tourney three times this season for Yuba while playing in five tournaments.  Demetrius visited Boise State 4/6/07. Dayton, Miami and Loyola (IL) are all interested and have all offered.  Yuba Mens BB Homepage $cout.com Profile *** CSTV #81 Fall Juco Rival$ Profile **
