Scott plays AAU with the Nashville Celtics along with Miami target Chaisson Allen.  Originally played at Jesuit High in New Orleans.  Schools such as Northwestern, Tennessee, Mississippi State, Tulane, Belmont, Lehigh, Libscomb and Bucknell have all been recruiting.

Saunders’ sophomore campaign at Jesuit saw him record about five minutes per game with the varsity, a rarity for a 10th-grader at the talent-laden school, and dominate at the JV level, helping his squad to an undefeated year. Shot blocking became a specialty.

This past summer, Saunders’ overall game began to blossom and he ended the season as the team’s leading scorer and rebounder. With his size and emerging talent, college suitors began knocking on the door.

“[Scott] was making good progress and had a very good AAU season,” said Scott’s dad, Larry, who played basketball at Duke University from 1968-71. “He’s getting stronger physically and developing some good skills.”

[BGA head coach says prior to Scott enrolling at BGA]“I’ve just seen him play pick-up,” Smith said. “But he seems to be pretty athletic and he moves well and I think he’ll be a nice addition to this team. I’m excited, the school and the players are excited and I think this is going to give us some good experience inside.”

Saunders is having an impact in the classroom as well, taking all accelerated courses at academically demanding BGA.
