2008 PROSPECT: Chris was a 2006 graduate of Hillcrest-Evergreen H.S. This past season (2007) Hines prep'ed at North Atlanta Prep.  A real "monster" of a player who is considered a "high major" talent by recruiting experts; named the 4A MVP in the 2006 Alabama state tournament and the 4A player of the year for the State of Alabama. Chris was named to the ASWA 2006 Alabama All-State "Super Five" Team and was 2nd in the voting for Alabama's Mr. Basketball.  Chris led his team to the state title and averaged 25 points, 12 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game as a Senior at Hillcrest-Evergreen.  Hillcrest-Evergreen basketball coach Tommy Dukes knew the first time he saw Chris Hines that had a competitor on his hands.  Dukes remembered Hines, then a middle-schooler, asking about practicing with the Hillcrest varsity once his junior high season was over. “I was shocked,” Dukes said, “He wants to get over here and mix it up with the bigger kids?  Ever since then, he’s been working to improve his game.” As a senior at Hillcrest, Hines was very nearly a complete package, a 6-foot-7 forward with a full array of post moves who can also shoot from the perimeter and handle the ball.  He used his considerable athletic skills to average 26 points and 8.5 rebounds during the 2005-2006 season (his Junior year).  He also showed that he could come up big in the biggest games, scoring 24 of his team’s 35 points in a 4A state final win over Saks that gave the Jaguars their first state title.During his Senior year he had interest from Auburn, Alabama, UAB, Indiana, S.Florida, Miami of Florida and Stanford among others.  Recently (2.24.07), while at North Atlanta Prep, Chris scored 30 points in the 2nd half in a win over Veritas Christian Chris says that his #1 priority is to find a quality school where he can get a terrific education. Played AAU for Murphysboro Stars. Since playing for North Atlanta, Chris has heard from Colorado, UAB, Miami among others.  Here's a little breakdown of his game:

"A very good athlete who can attack the basket and finish with either hand, Hines also passes the ball very well. Although he does not have any glaring weaknesses, he does have room for improving his shooting range and perimeter defense."
He's a do-it-all type of player. He's called on to do so much for them. He can handle the ball. He can pass with the best of them. He can should with the best of them. He is very active. We don't have an answer for him as far as an individual. We are going to have to pull together as a team and try to take away his strengths. We’re going to have to make him beat us with his weaknesses, if he has any.
