2006 PROSPECT: Dwain is one of the most intriguing prospects ever recruited by the Redhawks. Originally in the class of 2005, Dwain was forced to reclassify as he attended a number of schools during his H.S. career. (San Joaquin Memorial H.S. in Murietta, CA; North Broward H.S., Coconut Creek, FLA; IMG-Pendelton, Bradenton, FLA and Chaparral in CA). Because of all the transfers, Dwain was reclassified from the class of 2005 to the class of 2006. (Here is an article on one of Dwain’s transfers NCtimes.com) Averaged 28 points per game at ABCD camp in 2002 to lead all scorers. Can play either the 1 or the 2. Playing for Cal Hi Rising Stars, Dwain was the leading scorer at the Reebok Las Vegas Big Time Tournament in 2004 scoring 47 vs. Game Time (#4th all time in the history of the Reebok tournament) and scoring 41vs. El Toro Chargers that same tournament. Dwain averaged more points than OJ Mayo in the 2004 Reebok Big Time Tournament (Rebok Scoring Leaders). Even as a 7th grader, Dwain was considered one of the top guard’s in the nation (basketballphenoms.bom with picture). Basketball recruiting guru Bob Gibbons ranked Dwain as the #17 player in the nation for the class of 2005 (before he reclassified to class of 2006)! Considered by this site as the #62 player in the nation (basketballphenoms.com). Yet another article listing Dwain as one of the top PGs in the nation Sportsonly. At one time Scout.com had Dwain as the #16 player in the nation! ($cout 2005 rankings from 7/19/02) Was named the National Freshman of the year by Student Sports. As a sophomore, Dwain averaged 28 ppg leading all scorers in the L.A. area regardless of class! Williams, is a scoring point who can knock down the outside shot (his father, Michael, calls him “AT&T” for long distance) and also uses his quickness to slice through the lane. He spent his freshman year at San Joaquin Memorial Prep and attended the Adidas ABCD Camp that summer before transferring back closer to home at Chaparral prior to this season. After his Sophomore season, Dwain considered a transfer to Oak Hill and took a visit to UNC where he was considered for an early scholarship. Other schools courting Dwain included Arizona, USC, UCLA, Kentucky, Louisville, Arizona State, Oregon, Florida and others. His numerous transfers and reclassification caused many of his suitors to fall to the wayside or lose track of him. Nevertheless, Miami, USC, UMass, Illinois and others are still recruiting this outstanding guard for the 2006 season.

Dwain left Miami before stepping foot in his summer school class. Dwain ended up at Providence. After playing 2 years with the Friars under swirling transfer rumors, Dwain leaves PU and commits to Long Beach State and signs a letter of intent. However, Dwain is released from LBSU and commits to Oregon State. Shortly thereafter, Dwain decommits from OSU and commits to Kent.
IN SUMMARY: After attending 4 high schools in 4 years, Dwain has now committed to 5 colleges in 3 years. If he sticks around with the Flashes, he will have 2 years of eligibility begin next year.

Hawaii has announced Dwain will forgo his senior year (5th college year overall) and go pro.

We here at MHT.com do not believe he will go pro. He has another year of eligibility left. Although he will be unable to transfer to a NCAA DI school as he has used up his one and only sit out year, he has a whole summer left to commit and decommit to various DII, DIII, and NAIA schools before landing at one of them in the fall for his final year of eligibility.
