About Miami Hawk Talk Recruiting Information

The recruiting information contained on this site is information about student/athletes BELIEVED to be targeted by Miami University for various varsity athletic sports. The lists are far from complete and are not officially endorsed in any way by Miami University, its coaches or administration.

These pages will be updated as information is made available. Information may not be complete or timely and is compiled by newspaper articles, internet recruiting sites, and, of course, by Miami Hawk Talk Field Reporters. Players may "verbally" commit to a program, however, such committment is not binding until officially executing a "National Letter of Intent" (NLI).

Miami coaches and or its staff are not permitted to discuss or comment on potential recruits until after the signing of a NLI. The signing period for fall sports such as football begins in early February and runs until early April; basketball and other winter sports have an early signing perdiod in mid-November and a late signing period from April to May.

2007 PROSPECT: 17 points/ 10 rebounds/ 4 assists as a Junior. Very quick and very long. Played for King James All-Stars last summer but will play for CBC this summer. Nick can play perhaps 3 positions (2, 3, or 4). Lit it up at the Addias Super 64 July 22-26. Last summer, Nick was named to the 5 Star Basketball Camp all-star team. Hoopmasters says this of Nick:

This athletic wing has ability to create dribble drive and finish at the rim. He is really quick off the floor. He needs to improve consistency of his jump shot to solidify high major interest athletics tease.

Prephoopsonline.com:

This kid has a tremendous upside. Over the last couple of month he has come a long way. He is a very long, athletic wing. He is very crafty and really finishes around the basket. Needs to improve outiside shot. Most improved player in 2007 class.

From April 6, 2006:

This athletic lefty can score off the dribble or hurt the defense by dropping in wing or corner 3’s.  He uses his athletic ability to his advantage on the defensive end also has a quick hand that helps him pick up a few steals.  This player should get looks from mid major/mid major + schools.

Dave Telep gets the scoop from Nick:

“I like Coach Coles a whole lot. I like how good of a school it is academically along with the basketball. They have all three things – the coach, the school and basketball.  When I went to Miami I knew that was the school I wanted to go to. I was going to take more visits but I knew I wanted to go to Miami.”

Winbush became the mid-major flavor of the week during a stretch at the Big Time in July. You could spot entire staffs from Miami and Cleveland State in the stands watching him and the competition for his services increased even after the event.

“When you see a lot of the coaches from the same staff it shows they’re interested.”
