About Miami Hawk Talk Recruiting Information

The recruiting information contained on this site is information about student/athletes BELIEVED to be targeted by Miami University for various varsity athletic sports. The lists are far from complete and are not officially endorsed in any way by Miami University, its coaches or administration.

These pages will be updated as information is made available. Information may not be complete or timely and is compiled by newspaper articles, internet recruiting sites, and, of course, by Miami Hawk Talk Field Reporters. Players may "verbally" commit to a program, however, such committment is not binding until officially executing a "National Letter of Intent" (NLI).

Miami coaches and or its staff are not permitted to discuss or comment on potential recruits until after the signing of a NLI. The signing period for fall sports such as football begins in early February and runs until early April; basketball and other winter sports have an early signing perdiod in mid-November and a late signing period from April to May.

2006 PROSPECT: As a junior he was named second team all-conference. In addition to football, Stevens is also a fine track athlete. He is one of those unique athletes that actually competes in the sprints and field events. Stevens runs the 100 and 200 meters as well as throws the shot for Gateway High School. Stevens was able to visit several schools this summer including Kentucky, Indiana and Miami. He was impressed by the facilities at each school.

Miami will really have to knock Jordan’s socks off on his official visit as he currently has 3 favorites (UK, MSU and Minn) with Miami not currently in his top 3.  Nevertheless, he thinks enough of the Redhawks to make an official and give Coach Montgomery and his staff a shot.  Jordan won’t make his decision until he takes all 5 of his official visits and then the decision will be based upon whatever school is the most interested, academics and playing time.  Jordan would most likely play DE for the Redhawks

Jordan’s top schools have changed although he currently lists UK as his leader, Miami, Michigan State, Pittsburgh, Maryland and Minnesota round out his favorites. Jordan likes Miami academically and thinks the facility upgrades are outstanding.

Minnesota and Michigan State will also be spots Jordan will take official visits.

Minnesota has offered.  Pitt and Maryland may be the final 2 schools that Jordan visits but neither of those 2 schools have offered.

Jordan says he has no leader and has a final 5 of: Indiana (11/5), Kentucky (already visited), Miami (11/18), MSU (to be scheduled) and Illinois (to be scheduled).  Jordan will decide after all 5 visits.

IU may lead.  Jordan visits Bloomington this weekend.

Jordan has a top-2: IU and Miami.  His visit to IU went very well and his next visit is 11/19 to Oxford.  Sounds as if he may forego his visits to MSU and Illinois (all have offered).  When asked if he has a favorite, Stevens said, “Indiana and Miami are my top two. Then Michigan State and Illinois. Kentucky is fifth.”

"I would say right now my two leaders are Indiana and Miami,” he said. “They’re starting to pull away from the others. They’re definitely showing the most interest and recruiting me the hardest."

Jordan is scheduled to visit Oxford this weekend.

Stevens recently wrapped up his senior season. He finished the year with 95 tackles and 11 sacks.

List of schools offering: Indiana, Kentucky, Minnesota, Miami, Illinois, Wake Forest, and Michigan State.

Minnesota recently offered and Jordan is excited about his offer as his h.s. HC is friends with a Minn ass. coach.

Neverthless, Miami still has a terrific shot of landing Jordan and here’s what he has to say about the Redhawks:

"Miami (OH) has a really good coaching staff too. They are changing their facilities and getting new ones and have a great academic program."
