About Miami Hawk Talk Recruiting Information

The recruiting information contained on this site is information about student/athletes BELIEVED to be targeted by Miami University for various varsity athletic sports. The lists are far from complete and are not officially endorsed in any way by Miami University, its coaches or administration.

These pages will be updated as information is made available. Information may not be complete or timely and is compiled by newspaper articles, internet recruiting sites, and, of course, by Miami Hawk Talk Field Reporters. Players may "verbally" commit to a program, however, such committment is not binding until officially executing a "National Letter of Intent" (NLI).

Miami coaches and or its staff are not permitted to discuss or comment on potential recruits until after the signing of a NLI. The signing period for fall sports such as football begins in early February and runs until early April; basketball and other winter sports have an early signing perdiod in mid-November and a late signing period from April to May.

Ben Bennett

Position DB Height 6-1 Weight 210 40 speed 4.5 School Gwynn Park Hometown Brandywine, MD Incoming Year 2006

Ben is a very intelligent and athletic player who can hit like a truck. Plays LB for GP but projects as a rover at Miami. Last season, Gwynn Park was 11-1 (Prince George’s County 2A/3A League champion). Few public school teams can boast the talent surplus of Gwynn Park. Senior linebacker Adrian Moten (6-2, 205) has accepted a scholarship from Maryland, and defensive back Rashad Carmichael has committed to Virginia Tech. Mammoth lineman Phillip Taylor (6-4, 340) is one of most highly sought recruits on the East Coast. All 3 of those players along with Ben are team captains this season. Gwynn Park has been a playoff fixture but has never won a state title. This could be its best team yet. No team has as many Division I-A prospects in the state as Gwynn Park. Ben is on a number of watch lists as "players to watch" in Prince George’s County. Also plays FB. Coach Hayes tells me that Ben is a real big hitter with terrific anticipation. Last season Ben was the team’s 2nd leading tackler.
