Below the radar recruit who has a ton of upside. Very large frame and very athletic. Ran a 4.74 on the BGSU track this summer. A prototypical Miami recruit who has quick feet, smarts and is very athletic. Recruited by Miami, BGSU, Ball State, E.M.U., and Indiana. He did not pursue schools like WVU, Maryland, Illinois after making spring visits to Miami, BGSU, and Ball State. He plays OT/DE for Van Wert and had played TE earlier in high school before Van Wert went to a spread offense. D.J. played basketball through his Soph. year but chose to Strength train this past winter. He is a 300 lb bench, 450 squat, and a 275 lb. clean. Miami recruited D.J. as either an O-lineman or D-end, BGSU as a DL. His ability to gain weight will determine his final position. D.J. is fully qualified. Dad played for Lloyd Carr in HS. Former Cougars Joel Penton (Ohio State), and Andrew Crummey (Maryland) paved the way for D.J. having opportunities at both those schools. The Western Buckeye League is good preparation as its very competitive. D.J. was an all-league DE last year. Welcome aboard D.J.!
