Peris is a very athletic, very competitive player who plays QB at Rogers but will play either S or OLB in college. One of the top 3-4 DB prospects in Ohio for 2006. Came back from a broken foot to play in the final three games of the season even though the foot was still broken. Led his team in tackles before the injury and finished with 500 yards rushing and six touchdowns. 3.3 GPA with an offer from Miami and BG. Interest from Ohio State, Purdue and Wisconsin. UPDATE 4.26.05:Toledo (Ohio) Rogers standout Peris Edwards is one of the most talented athletes in the northwest part of the Buckeye state. Edwards has been a varsity starter at linebacker since his sophomore year, and also played running back during his junior season. Edwards however, will likely move to strong safety in college. "Right now he’s wide open," coach Rick Rios said. "He’s hearing from everyone. "He has offers on the table in writing from Miami and Bowling Green. We heard from (Ohio State assistant coach) Doc Tressel the other day. We hear from them all the time. "Purdue and Wisconsin are on his list. "He went to a junior day at Purdue. He’s been to Ohio State. He stopped in at a junior day at Bowling Green. "He’s going to camps this summer at Ohio State and Purdue." UPDATE 6.13.05: offers from Kent, BG, Toledo and Miami. Favorites are Miami, Purdue (no offer), Ohio State (no offer), Wisconsin (no offer), BC (no offer), Iowa (no offer) and BG. Will camp this summer at Ohio State and Purdue. Edwards thinks he will play S in college. Here is what he says about his play: “I have good coverage skills and I love to hit. I’m also very quick and I cover a lot of ground. I’ve been told that I break well on the ball.” Edwards also letters in track and basketball. He carries a 3.3 GPA and will need to re-take his ACT. UPDATE 7.10.05:Peris has more offers and favorites; Besides an offer from Miami, Peris lists Cincinnati, BG, Toledo, Kent, EMU, and Akron as schools that have offered. He has 3 favorites: Miami (“I like them and I am going down on 7-15 to see the campus on an unofficial visit.”), Cincinnati (“I really don’t know much, they are moving to the Big East and my teammate Steve Gawronski is going there this fall. I am planning on taking a trip down to see the campus.”), BG (“I like them a lot, very nice school and a great team and it’s close to home which is nice. The players are really nice and that’s important to me.”)

Peris is a Redhawk! Toledo Blade
“It was just a gut feeling I had when I was at the campus,” said Edwards of selecting Miami. “I felt like it was a good fit for me. The players were real cool and I went by my instincts.
“Miami is a good academic school, so I know I’ll have something to fall back on besides football.”
Edwards, who carries a 3.3 grade-point average, has qualified academically to attend Miami.

more on Peris:
Another CL tandem to watch are Rogers seniors Peris Edwards and Jermaine Dykes.
Edwards, a 6-foot-2, 190-pound running back/safety, is one of the area’s top college prospects, with scholarship offers on the table from Mid-American Conference schools Bowling Green, Miami, Akron, Kent State, Eastern Michigan and Central Michigan. Ohio State, Purdue, Marshall and Cincinnati have also shown interest, according to Rams coach Rick Rios.
“There’s probably not a harder worker in northwest Ohio than Peris Edwards,” Rios said, “on or off the field. All last school year, during football, basketball and track seasons, Peris went to Bally’s to work out three times a week before school at 4:30 in the morning.
“On the field, he likes to mix it up. He’s not afraid of contact. He’d rather hit someone than make an interception.”
