These pages will be updated as information is made available. Information may not be complete or timely and is compiled by newspaper articles, internet recruiting sites, and, of course, by Miami Hawk Talk Field Reporters. 2006 PROSPECT: Considered one of the top DT prospects in Ohio for ‘06. Great instincts and strength, Channels has become a force within the Greater Western Ohio Conference his first three years. Offer by Miami. Ranked at one of the top50 DL by fab50recruiting.com. Considered by most experts as the #1 DT in the State. Scout.com has Martin ranked as the #38 player in the State and as the most disruptive DT. Also receiving interest from Ohio State. Martin has offers from Miami, Boston College, Indiana, Akron, Ball State, and Kent. Quote from Martin

"I’m good with both the run and the pass. I like when a team runs the ball, because it gives me a better chance to make a play. I feel like I’m a pretty good tackler. Not a lot gets by me."
Former Xenia player and current Ohio State Offensive Lineman Ben Peson claims that Martin was almost impossible to block in practice (when Martin was a Sophomore!).

Indiana has offered. Once Martin receives his test results he’ll schedule official visits.  A qualifying test score may bring offers from Tennessee and West Virgina.  Nevertheless, Martin is planning on taking one of his officials to Miami.

Martin had a dominating performace last night in Wayne’s convincing victory of GWOC rival Centerville.  No doubt about it, Martin is one of the top DT’s in Ohio.  He is so quick at the snap of the ball that it immediately creates a disadvantage for offensive lineman.  Combine that with his size and strength and anyone can see that he’s a force inside.  Often times, Centerville would utilize 2 and 3 blockers in an attempt to neutralize him.

Channels was named Honorable Mention for the 2005 Division I Southwest All-District Football Team.  Not bad for a guy who transferred during school and missed a number of games
