Rod Sherman

Position 2G Height 6-2 Weight School Ben Davis Hometown Indianapolis Incoming Year 2006

Initially posted by NickSkin on 05/11/05 at 1:59 pm

Related to former Miami great Damon Frierson.  As a Sophomore, Sherman scored 9/game as a JR, Rod scored 13/game.  He is a combo-guard that can play either the 2 but ran the point for Ben Davis quite a bit last season.  Early on he had interest from Purdue, Wisconsin, Xaver and Miami among others but last season he suffered an ACL injury.  Miami is one of the schools that have stayed with Rod during his rehab.  No offers.
UPDATE 5.27.05: Rod continues his rehab and has been sprinting, ladder work and lifting.  Able to dunk again but isn’t trying to push things too much.  Should be able to retake the court in late June or early July.  Although Miami continues to maintain interest, Rodriquez says BG and Duquesne are most serious
UPDATE 7.2.05: Recently made his first competitive appearance since a midseason ACL tear. He played very well despite being less then 100 percent. He showed off good athletic ability as well as a good ability to pass the basketball. Sherman looked like an impressive combo guard.
UPDATE 7.5.05: Rod still has no offers but continues to hear from Miami, Dayton, X, Duquesne, Ball State, and BG.

Rod continues to recover from his knee injury and was cleared to play in June.  Sherman says he’s about 90%.  Reports from those who have seen him workout say he is shooting the ball extremely well, and he is playing and moving without hesitation. Sherman plans to be 100% (strength test measurement) by the fall, and every indication is he will continue to heal and regain his explosiveness. He has been effective and performed well with Ben Davis during their June school games. At Xavier’s team camp, he was able to play in three games, but won’t be putting himself in a position of playing much more than that in a given week until he is 100%.

Duquesne appears to be the most aggressive Rod and is is unknown if they’ve offered. Ball State, BG, Butler, Kent, Miami, and NIU are the other schools in contact with him. Dayton and WMU have not communicated with him since early July.

Rod appreciates the schools who have stuck by him through his injury and subsequent rehabilitation.
