About Miami Hawk Talk Recruiting Information

The recruiting information contained on this site is information about student/athletes BELIEVED to be targeted by Miami University for various varsity athletic sports. The lists are far from complete and are not officially endorsed in any way by Miami University, its coaches or administration.

These pages will be updated as information is made available. Information may not be complete or timely and is compiled by newspaper articles, internet recruiting sites, and, of course, by Miami Hawk Talk Field Reporters. Players may "verbally" commit to a program, however, such committment is not binding until officially executing a "National Letter of Intent" (NLI).

Miami coaches and or its staff are not permitted to discuss or comment on potential recruits until after the signing of a NLI. The signing period for fall sports such as football begins in early February and runs until early April; basketball and other winter sports have an early signing perdiod in mid-November and a late signing period from April to May.

From the home of Travis Craven, Sims is considered one of the top PG prospects in Indiana and in the Midwest.  Did more than hold his own against much-heralded Michael Conley Jr. last season.  Last year Sims, who averaged 18 points/6 assists/3 steals, picked up real early offers from WMU and Ball State.

Ryan maintains that his final 4 are Miami, IU, Illinois and WMU.  FT. WAYNE JOURNAL.  He has said he hopes to make a decision by late July or early August. His dad, also his coach, said teams are trying to be added almost daily.  “I really feel sorry for him at times,” Ray Sims said. “Teams are always calling and asking if it is too late to start recruiting him.” Indiana specifically has said it was waiting to see how the younger Sims plays in tournaments with good competition such as in Vegas.

Ryan’s AAU team, Spiece Elite blew-out Chico Tarheels from California in Day 2 of the Vegas Big Time Tourny 81-42. Sims did not have his jumper falling and did not play much of the second half due to the big margin. He finished with six points (all in 1H), was 3-9 from the floor with 0-2 3FG shooting.

Afterwards Sims said that he hasn’t heard much from Indiana of late. He did say Dayton has picked up their recruiting of him along with most all of the MAC programs. He said he has offers now from all of those programs.

Sims says every school in the MAC have offered.  Dayton has picked up recruiting.  Mich. State and IU have cooled on Ryan while Illinois is staying in touch.  A new school in the picture is UAB.  Stay tuned.

Sims starting to hone his list. After flirtations with Big 10 schools Michigan State and Indiana, it appears that Fort Wayne Snider’s Ryan Sims is looking forward to the schools that have stepped up with offers.

Ball State, Dayton, and Western Michigan have been on Ryan the longest. Each have followed through with offers to the 6’1” point guard. Alabama-Birmingham, Central Michigan, Kent, and Miami have all offered Sims as well.

Sims plans a fall decision, but as of yet, he has finalized no plans on who he will visit officially.
