About Miami Hawk Talk Recruiting Information

The recruiting information contained on this site is information about student/athletes BELIEVED to be targeted by Miami University for various varsity athletic sports. The lists are far from complete and are not officially endorsed in any way by Miami University, its coaches or administration.

These pages will be updated as information is made available. Information may not be complete or timely and is compiled by newspaper articles, internet recruiting sites, and, of course, by Miami Hawk Talk Field Reporters. Players may "verbally" commit to a program, however, such committment is not binding until officially executing a "National Letter of Intent" (NLI).

Miami coaches and or its staff are not permitted to discuss or comment on potential recruits until after the signing of a NLI. The signing period for fall sports such as football begins in early February and runs until early April; basketball and other winter sports have an early signing perdiod in mid-November and a late signing period from April to May.

Muncie Central’s Osborne visits Ball State

Muncie Central junior Nick Osborne lives about a mile from the Ball State campus and has grown up following the Cardinals. But the 6-7 forward took an opportunity this week to get to know basketball coach Billy Taylor’s program a little more intimately on an unofficial visit.

“It went really well,” said Osborne, whose only current Division I scholarship offer is from Ball State. “I drive through campus a lot, but I got a chance to meet some important people within the program.”

After missing much of the spring and summer with a back injury, Osborne is healthy, and the result was a strong showing in July with the Eric Gordon 16-and-under team. He has visits lined up this month at Dayton, Evansville, Miami of Ohio and Valparaiso. Ohio, which had offered him a scholarship before a coaching change, also is recruiting him.

Osborne averaged 10.6 points and 6.6 rebounds as a sophomore, helping the Bearcats recover from a slow start to win a Class 4A sectional championship. Though his primary role is as a low-post scorer and rebounder, Osborne is intent on improving other elements of his game.

“I’ve been going to the (YMCA) every day working on my shot,” he said. “I think most schools like my defense and rebounding, but I have to be able to show I can do some things on the perimeter."
