About Miami Hawk Talk Recruiting Information

The recruiting information contained on this site is information about student/athletes BELIEVED to be targeted by Miami University for various varsity athletic sports. The lists are far from complete and are not officially endorsed in any way by Miami University, its coaches or administration.

These pages will be updated as information is made available. Information may not be complete or timely and is compiled by newspaper articles, internet recruiting sites, and, of course, by Miami Hawk Talk Field Reporters. Players may "verbally" commit to a program, however, such committment is not binding until officially executing a "National Letter of Intent" (NLI).

Miami coaches and or its staff are not permitted to discuss or comment on potential recruits until after the signing of a NLI. The signing period for fall sports such as football begins in early February and runs until early April; basketball and other winter sports have an early signing perdiod in mid-November and a late signing period from April to May.

2010 Prospect:  Per Scout.com, Torian Oglesby has interest from Miami, CMU, BGSU, and Cleveland State.  In high school, Oglesby was a 2nd team All-state forward and 1st team All-Saginaw area after averaging 15.5 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 5 blocks per game.  At Mott this season, Oglesby averaged 10 points and 8.5 rebounds per game for Mott’s state championship squad. He also led the team in field goal percentage, scoring on 63% of his shot attempts.  He was third team all-conference this year and was on the league's "all-defense" team.

Miami coaches have recently been up to watch Oglesby in action:

The head Coaches from Central Michigan, Bowling Green, Cleveland State, Miami (Ohio) and Duquense University have all been in Flint within the past week to evaluate him.  Additional visits will be set soon for several of the schools who have offered scholarships.

The coaches have been impressed with Oglesby’s athleticism and his connection to the Mott program, one that went 55-9 during his two seasons in Flint.  Oglesby has a 3.0 g.p.a and is on track to graduate.

Per Michigan Live story after Oglesby signed with Mott, the story read:

Strengths: Incredible bounce; tremendous shotblocker; gets up and down the floor; tries to dunk everything.

Weaknesses: Needs to get stronger; limited offensively outside of the paint; tries to dunk everything.
