About Miami Hawk Talk Recruiting Information

The recruiting information contained on this site is information about student/athletes BELIEVED to be targeted by Miami University for various varsity athletic sports. The lists are far from complete and are not officially endorsed in any way by Miami University, its coaches or administration.

These pages will be updated as information is made available. Information may not be complete or timely and is compiled by newspaper articles, internet recruiting sites, and, of course, by Miami Hawk Talk Field Reporters. Players may "verbally" commit to a program, however, such committment is not binding until officially executing a "National Letter of Intent" (NLI).

Miami coaches and or its staff are not permitted to discuss or comment on potential recruits until after the signing of a NLI. The signing period for fall sports such as football begins in early February and runs until early April; basketball and other winter sports have an early signing perdiod in mid-November and a late signing period from April to May.

2011 PROSPECT:  Mean shot blocker and dunker.  Leaves it all on the court every game.  A true power forward, but a little undersized at 6-6 which may scare the high majors away.  Local school WKU has offered and others (see above).  Tracked by Miami, Indiana, Purdue, Louisville, Cincy, Depaul, Mississippi State, Iowa, Xavier, Alabama, West Virginian, Kentucky, South Carolina, and VCU.  Plays AAU with Derek Smith All-Stars.   See Youtube Videos:  You Tube Video #1(highlights), You Tube Video #2 (highlights). You Tube Video #3 (interview), You Tube Video #4 (Dunk Contest).

Rivals.com Profile......Scout.com Profile......ESPN Profile:

January, 2009: Fant is a young athletic forward that has high major upside. This work in progress is long and runs the floor like a deer. He is undersized to be a high major power forward but with improved skill he could get to that level. Fant is young enough that he will probably grow which takes care of the undersize part of the equation. He finishes in transition above the rim and in the half court scores on drop steps, drop off passes created by guard penetration with excellent touch around the basket. He will also hit an occasional 15 footer off the catch. Fant must add a perimeter game and learn how to maintain contact to his defender in the post.

December, 2009: Fant is a strong and physical power forward that has a good motor and can score around the basket although he is undersized. Fant has good not great athletic ability but he can score around or through defenders on a regular basis. He can shoot the turn shot in...
