About Miami Hawk Talk Recruiting Information

The recruiting information contained on this site is information about student/athletes BELIEVED to be targeted by Miami University for various varsity athletic sports. The lists are far from complete and are not officially endorsed in any way by Miami University, its coaches or administration.

These pages will be updated as information is made available. Information may not be complete or timely and is compiled by newspaper articles, internet recruiting sites, and, of course, by Miami Hawk Talk Field Reporters. Players may "verbally" commit to a program, however, such committment is not binding until officially executing a "National Letter of Intent" (NLI).

Miami coaches and or its staff are not permitted to discuss or comment on potential recruits until after the signing of a NLI. The signing period for fall sports such as football begins in early February and runs until early April; basketball and other winter sports have an early signing perdiod in mid-November and a late signing period from April to May.

Jakarr Sampson

Position PF Height 6-7 Weight 190 School St. Vincent-St. Mary Hometown Akron, Ohio Incoming Year 2011
Offered By Dayton, Xavier, Akron, Cincinnati, Michigan State, Ohio State, St. John's

2010 PROSPECT:  Combo forward plays AAU ball with the King James Shooting Stars (Lebron’s team) and is attending Lebron’s high school alma mater.  Although known as a power forward, he is working on his ballhandling to convert to a small forward.  Rivals.com reports he has offers from Akron,  Dayton, and Xavier.   He is also “ hearing from Michigan State, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Ohio State, Michigan, Illinois, Cleveland State, and Miami Ohio. “  He has also taken a recent visit to Cincinnati.  Florida State and Washington are also in the mix.
His ESPN Profile writes:

April, 2009: Jakarr is a super long combo forward. He is continuing to increase his skill level and his comfortability away from the basket. He will probably be a 3 at the next level. Offensively he is a solid ball handler for his position and a great handler for his size and youth. He is a good slasher to the basket and is a decent shooter to 15 feet (though his range seems to increase weekly). Sampson is a decent rebounder but he definitely needs to get stronger in order to improve in this category. His length and athletic ability make him a solid defender in the post. He is surprisingly effective in space. He moves his feet pretty well for his size. As Jakarr continues to develop and improve, his stock will continue to rise. He could become an elite prospect in the 2011 class.
