About Miami Hawk Talk Recruiting Information

The recruiting information contained on this site is information about student/athletes BELIEVED to be targeted by Miami University for various varsity athletic sports. The lists are far from complete and are not officially endorsed in any way by Miami University, its coaches or administration.

These pages will be updated as information is made available. Information may not be complete or timely and is compiled by newspaper articles, internet recruiting sites, and, of course, by Miami Hawk Talk Field Reporters. Players may "verbally" commit to a program, however, such committment is not binding until officially executing a "National Letter of Intent" (NLI).

Miami coaches and or its staff are not permitted to discuss or comment on potential recruits until after the signing of a NLI. The signing period for fall sports such as football begins in early February and runs until early April; basketball and other winter sports have an early signing perdiod in mid-November and a late signing period from April to May.

2010 Prospect:  Originally a class of 2009 prospect, Miami has shown some interest in Jenkins since at least last summer as Miami assistants were seen watching an AAU game last July.  Jenkins is very unlikely to end up at Miami in the 2009-10 school year.  However, he likely will go to prep school for a year and reclassify to the class of 2010:

Jenkins to prep school?

A number of e-mails the past few weeks asking about the status of one of the state's top basketball players in the Class of 2009 - Jacob Jenkins.

Talked with the 6-foot-4 sharpshooter from Manual last night and he filled me in on some of the particulars in his current recruiting situation.

Jenkins missed 18 games as a senior at Manual because of a stress fracture in his foot and had surgery after the season to remove a bone spur (the size of a pecan) from his left foot.

"It was frustrating," Jenkins said. "I start therapy (this week) and I hope to be playing again in mid-June. I just can't dwell on what happened."

Jenkins said his final plan isn't set but it looks like he will head to St. Thomas More Prep School in Oakdale (Conn.) in the fall and is hoping to play next season at 100 percent.

While he said a few schools have still showed interest, Jenkins noted Bellarmine has been high on his list and he's "very, very interested in coming back home," after a year at prep school.
