About Miami Hawk Talk Recruiting Information

The recruiting information contained on this site is information about student/athletes BELIEVED to be targeted by Miami University for various varsity athletic sports. The lists are far from complete and are not officially endorsed in any way by Miami University, its coaches or administration.

These pages will be updated as information is made available. Information may not be complete or timely and is compiled by newspaper articles, internet recruiting sites, and, of course, by Miami Hawk Talk Field Reporters. Players may "verbally" commit to a program, however, such committment is not binding until officially executing a "National Letter of Intent" (NLI).

Miami coaches and or its staff are not permitted to discuss or comment on potential recruits until after the signing of a NLI. The signing period for fall sports such as football begins in early February and runs until early April; basketball and other winter sports have an early signing perdiod in mid-November and a late signing period from April to May.

Class Scholarship Breakdown

The NCAA allows member schools to award 13 total basketball scholarships. Following is a breakdown of how Miami's scholarships are distributed.  Year of graduation is listed prior to student/athletes names.

2009 (6) Bramos, Dierkers, E.Pollitz*, Richburg, Carson, Hayes

2010 (1) Fletcher**

2011 (4) McCombs, Winbush, Haddix, Ballard***

2012 (2) Mavunga, Soderberg, (Legarza****)

TOTAL (13)

2012 (5)

*originally graduating class of 2008, reclassified to 2009 because of redshirt year **originally graduating class of 2009, reclassified to 2010 because of redshirt year; ***originally graduating class of 2010, reclassified to 2011 because of redshirt year; ****will receive a scholarship starting in 2009 (updated 6.10.08)

Scholarship Situation

Miami lost 6'5" PF Tim Pollitz to graduation after the 2007 season and signed 6'7" PF Julian Mavunga in the fall of 2007.  6'9" C/BF Vince Legarza will join Mavunga in the class of 2008 as a walk-on but will receive a scholarship starting the 2009 season.  2010 PG Alex Moosmann transferred from Miami thereby freeing up a scholarship that was filled when incoming 5'10" Freshman PG Kramer Soderberg signed a LOI in the Spring of 2008. Six players will exhaust their eligibility after the 2008 season and 1 of those scholarships will be assigned to Vince Legarza.  Therefore, Miami has five available scholarships to award to players beginning in 2009.  The next signing period ("early period) will be mid November 2008 and the "regular" signing period will be mid April thru mid May 21, 2009.  (updated 6.10.08).
