Welcome Miamian Readers!
We’d like to welcome new visitors to this site who heard about us through the recent Miamian article. We’re happy to have you here, and we’d love for you to get acquainted with our site and our current users.
To answer questions you may have, we’ve prepared a few notes of interest.
- Miami Hawk Talk has been in existence in one form or another for over seven years
- miamihawktalk.com has been in existence for nearly five years, and this is the third iteration of the news and message board design; development is currently underway for the fourth version, which should be debuting in the near future.
- we currently have almost 1,500 registered posters on our message boards
- currently over 6,000 users visit our site each month during the offseason
- during football and basketball season, last year we entertained between 9,000 and 10,000 users per month; but given our historical trends, we are probably going to exceed that this year.
- we see a significant number of posters from on-campus during the school year, which means a number of students have found us over the years
- we are an independent site, which means we have no official ties to the university; we also are not affiliated with any of the online sports “networks”. We are supported only by donations from our users.
- our most-used feature is our discussion boards, followed by our news pages.
You can find out more about the history of the site in our about section, and more about the character of the message boards by reading our Frequently Asked Questions. And, of course, we encourage you to visit our message boards, where we are already gearing up for our September 3 meeting with Ohio State.
