Swisher first, Stoll third at MU Invitational

In the Men's and Women's XC teams' only home meet of the season, Chris Swisher and Jennie Stoll turned in outstanding performances, pacing the RedHawks at the Miami Invitational on Saturday.

Swisher, the top finisher at last week's Flyer 5K Invitational, finished the men's 8K course in 25:25.8, seven seconds ahead of his closest competition. Dan Huling, Michael Veatch, and Brad Untrauer also finished among the top 12 for the RedHawks. Unfortunately, their excellent showing wasn't quite enough, as the men's nine-year winning streak at the Invitational was finally snapped by Kent State, who finished with 42 points to Miami's 44.

Stoll, in her first race back from injury, finished the women's 5K course in 18:45.5, placing third. She was one of three RedHawks in the top 15, which also included Sarah Heinze and Kristen Proach. The women scored 75 points, finishing in fourth place behind meet winner Cincinnati (54), EKU (56), and Malone (67).

The men now have two weeks off before competing in the Notre Dame Invitational, while the women race Saturday at the Cedarville/Friendship Invitational in Xenia.
