Icers Finish 3rd in Detroit, Gain NCAA Bid
Miami Hockey earned just our third ever NCAA bid after a third place finish at the CCHA tournament in Detroit. The semi-final game was back-and-forth, with Ohio State prevailing 4-3 on a goal 23 seconds into overtime.
In the third place game on Saturday, Brandon Crawford-West posted 24 saves in leading Miami to a 4-0 victory against the Northern Michigan Wildcats. That win proved crucial, as Miami avoided a substantial drop in the PairWise Rankings and secured an NCAA bid for the first time since 1997.
The Red and White will play in the West bracket, facing former coach George Gwozdecky and the Denver Pioneers Friday night. Click the links below for NCAA tournament previews, and check MHT.com often for updates on the squad as we head to the tournament.
