MIAMI falls 8-0 to Marshall
Miami’s softball team traveled to Huntington for a midweek game against former MAC foes Marshall yesterday, facing the Stupid Cow as a non-conference opponent for the first time since 1996. Unfortunately, all was not well for the RedHawks, as they fell 8-0 in the sixth via the mercy rule.
Miami failed to capitalize early, scoring no runs in the first after loading up the bases, and the Blundering Turds made them pay, getting two across to take a 2-0 lead and never look back. They followed with a three-run homer from Courtney Kacenga in the second. While freshman pitcher Kelly Cabana kept Marshall off the board for the next two innings, they plated two more in the fifth and one in the sixth to mercy the RedHawks. Miami fell to 14-22 (and stayed at 1-3 in the MAC) on the season.
