When grown men become kids and kids are still innocent
This weekend is that most magical of times in the world of Miami baseball: Opening Day. The RedHawks will travel to Furman University (who, while they lack the Robert Frost pedigree, can legitimately claim to have one of the most beautiful campuses in the nation) to take on the Paladins in a three-game set. Greenville has been kind to the RedHawks in the past, with Miami winning a season-opening series two games to one back in 2004.
The RedHawks baseball players aren’t the only ones with a coming-out party this weekend: new head coach Dan Simonds, an assistant at Miami from 2000-04 and head coach at Xavier last season, will be making his debut as RedHawks skipper after taking over for Tracy Smith, who departed for Indiana after leading the Miami to a MAC title and a record-setting performance at the NCAA regionals last season.
