Field Hockey drops two in OT
It was a heartbreaking week for the Miami field hockey team, who lost back-to-back overtime games against #9 Ohio State and Ball State.
Ohio State jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead on Wednesday, but sophomore Adele French cut the margin in half in the 22nd minute. The RedHawks were held scoreless again until six minutes remained in the second half, when senior Keri von Kalinkowski connected on a penalty corner. Four minutes into overtime, though, Ohio State slipped one past goalkeeper Kerri Orr, giving the Buckeyes a 3-2 win. Miami was outshot 19 to 2 for the game.
On Friday, defense was the word as neither the RedHawks nor the Cardinals were able to score in regulation. Ball State scored on a three-on-one rush in overtime for a 1-0 victory.
