Most Recent Story: Michigan Double Dip
The two most important events on Miami's athletic calendar this weekend take place in the state of Michigan. On Friday at 7:30pm in Ann Arbor volleyball takes on the University of Michigan in the first round of the NCAA volleyball tournament. Should the RedHawks win, they will face either Illinois State or Colorado State in the second round on Saturday at 7pm. Miami faced Michigan in Oxford in August as part of the Miami Classic, falling 3-0 (23-30, 22-30, 28-30). Miami finished the season 20-10, good for second in the MAC East, and won the MAC Tournament by defeating #15 OU in three games. Michigan finished 22-10, good for fifth place in the Big 10.
Miami football is hoping to follow in volleyball's footsteps and become the second Miami team to win a conference title this school year. The RedHawks play West division champion Central Michigan at Ford Field in Detroit on Saturday at 11am. The football team is attempting to win its first MAC title since 2003, in what would cap a fantastic turnaround from 2-10 to conference champion. A win would improve Miami's record to 7-6 and guarantee a bowl game for the RedHawks.
