Emily Schroeder
Our new Hawk of the Week is senior volleyball outside hitter Emily Schroeder. Last weekend, Emily had 31 kills and 29 digs to help lead Miami to a split in its initial MAC weekend of the season.
In the first game of the conference season Emily led the RedHawks in both kills (with 16) and digs (with 22) as Miami beat Bowling Green 3-1. Versus West-favorite Western Michigan, Emily led the team with 15 kills and added 7 digs as Miami fell to the Broncos 3-1. For the season, Emily leads the RedHawks in kills and total points, and is third in digs. She is also eighth in the conference in kills.
Miami plays two key home matches this weekend, hosting Kent State on Friday and perennial MAC-power OU on Sunday. Kent is 12-3 (2-0) for the season while OU is 9-4 (2-0). Miami enters this weekend at 7-7 (1-1).
