Andrea Atteberry
Our new Hawk of the Week is junior volleyball setter Andrea Atteberry. For the week, Andrea had 134 assists and 29 digs in helping Miami win the UNLV Tournament, which included a 3-1 victory over #10 Wisconsin. Andrea was named MVP of the tournament for her outstanding play.
In game one versus Cal State Fullerton, Andrea had 39 assists and five digs as Miami won 3-0. The next night against Wisconsin, Andrea had 53 assists and led the team with 14 digs while in the finale versus UNLV (a 3-0 victory) she had 42 assists and once again led the team in digs, this time with 10. For the season, Andrea is averaging over 12 assists per match and is third on the team with 50 digs and second on the team with 10 blocks.
Volleyball continues tournament play this weekend with a trip to Bowling Green, KY for the Western Kentucky Tournament. At that tournament, Miami will play Tennessee Tech, WKU, and Furman. The RedHawks return home on September 16th for a match versus Marshall.
