Megan Mawn
Our new Hawk of the Week is freshman softball second baseman Megan Mawn. For the week, Megan hit .470 (8-17) with five runs scored, four RBI, and two doubles as Miami went 3-3 for the week.
In Miami's 5-1 non-conference victory versus Wright State, Megan went 2-3 with a double, two runs scored, and one RBI. She was involved in both run scoring rallies; in the first inning Megan hit a two-out double, scoring on a Brianna Robinson homerun. Then, in the second inning, Megan hit a run scoring single and subsequently scored on a Robinson double. In Miami's doubleheader sweep of Buffalo on Friday, Megan went 5-7 with three runs scored and three RBI. She led Miami in game one with four hits and two RBI and in game two Megan drove in Miami's only run with a fourth inning double as Miami won 1-0.
For the season Megan is fourth on the team with a .333 batting average. She also leads the team with 24 sacrifice hits (including a MAC-leading 13 sacrifice bunts) and is second on the team with a .411 on base percentage.
Miami softball is 19-21 for the season, including 9-5 in the MAC - good for third place in the MAC East. The RedHawks have eight regular season games remaining, all conference games. This weekend Miami hosts Central Michigan and Eastern Michigan in the final home games of the season, while they conclude the season at Northern Illinois and WMU. Starting on May 7th, Miami will begin play at the MAC softball tournament.
