Paul Ricard
Our new Hawk of the Week is senior swimmer Paul Ricard. Paul won all four of his races last weekend as Miami tied Kenyon College and fell to EMU in the RedHawks' final home meets of the season.
Versus Division III powerhouse Kenyon (28 consecutive national titles) Paul won two races. His first win was in the 200 free with a time of 1:43.11, his fastest time in this event this season. Paul's second win was in the 500 free with a time of 4:38.52. Against Eastern Michigan Paul also won two races. His victory in the 1000 free was swum in the fastest time for the event by any MAC swimmer this season (9:28.98) - the second place finisher in the race swam the second fastest time in the conference this season! Paul also won the 200 free, in a time of 4:38.41.
These meets mark the final home meets of Paul's illustrious Miami career. Paul entered this season as a two-time MAC Swimmer of the year, a five-time MAC Champion and three-time first team All-MAC selection. He also swam a "B" cut time in the 1650 free earlier this season and will compete at the NCAA's in March. Paul and the RedHawks have one final meet - this weekend at Ball State - before competing at the conference championships in Nashville (a combined MAC/Sun Belt championship) at the end of February.
