Our new Hawk of the Week is ice hockey goaltender Jeff Zatkoff.  Jeff won both games last week as Miami swept a key series at Alaska.  He also set a Miami record by holding opponents scoreless for 216:02 (over three and a half games), a streak which came to a conclusion on Saturday.

 

On Friday, Jeff notched his second shutout of the season in Miami's 2-0 victory, stopping all 24 shots, while on Saturday Jeff stopped 22 of 24 shots as Miami won 7-2.  The victory on Saturday improved Jeff's record for the season to 20-3, which is the best in the CCHA.  Jeff also leads the CCHA in goals against average (1.5) and save percentage (.937).

 

Miami is off this weekend, with the RedHawks next in action on February 8th and 9th at home versus Michigan in what are likely the most eagerly anticipated hockey games in Miami's program history.
