Tyler Dierkers and Karen Frazier
After overstuffing on a Thanksgiving feast, we are catching up on the Hawk of the Week by recognizing the most outstanding performances over the last two weeks. For his performance in Anaheim, our first HOTW is basketball junior forward Tyler Dierkers. Tyler helped lead Miami to a third place finish in the Anaheim Classic with a total of 14 points, 18 rebounds, and 20 assists in Miami's three games. Tyler led Miami in assists in all three games and also led the team in rebounds in the victory versus Mississippi State. Against MSU, Tyler almost collected a triple-double, with seven points, nine rebounds, and 10 assists. For the season, Tyler is leading Miami with 27 defensive rebounds, 28 assists, and 9 steals.
Sophomore swimmer Karen Frazier is our second Hawk of the Week. In helping lead Miami to a victory over fifteen other schools in the 14th Annual Miami Invitational, Karen had four individual wins and swam as part of two Miami relay wins. Karen's victory in the 100 breast set a new pool, Miami, and MAC record with a time of 1:02.19 and her victory in the 200 breast was also a Miami varsity record as well as a qualifying NCAA B-cut time. Miami's 200 medley relay team, on which Karen swam, also set a new pool record for the event. Karen also posted individuals wins in the 200 IM and the 400 IM.
