Carli Reihman
For the second consecutive week, volleyball middle hitter Carli Reihman is our Hawk of the Week. Going back to the spring of 2004, there has not been another Miami athlete named as Hawk of the Week for consecutive weeks; however, Carli's accomplishments this week made it a fairly easy decision. She helped lead Miami to three straight 3-0 victories in the MAC volleyball tournament as Miami won its first MAC title since 1998. For her efforts, Carli was named the tournament MVP.
In Miami's three wins, Carli had a total of 32 kills and 31 digs. She was the only Miami player in double figures in both kills and digs in a single match, accomplishing that twice - versus EMU and again versus OU. Against OU in the championship match, Carli reached the 1,000 kills milestone, making her just the eighth player in Miami program history to have both 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in her Miami career.
With the tournament title comes the MAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Volleyball Championships. Before the brackets are announced on Sunday, Miami will host a MAC/Atlantic 10 Challenge as a tune up. Miami will play Atlantic 10 runner up Xavier on Friday and Atlantic 10 tournament champion (and #16 nationally) Dayton on Saturday.
Congratulations to Carli on being named the Most Valuable Player of the MAC Volleyball Tournament and on helping lead Miami to the schools' first team conference title of the 2007-08 school year. Good luck versus XU and UD, and in the NCAA tournament and congratulations for the unprecedented honor of being named our Hawk of the Week for consecutive weeks.
