Carli Reihman
Our new Hawk of the Week is volleyball middle hitter Carli Reihman. Carli helped lead Miami to a weekend sweep versus Akron and Buffalo, guaranteeing Miami a second place finish in the MAC East and the #3 seed (and first round bye) in the MAC Volleyball tournament. Versus Akron, Carli had a team leading 12 defensive digs and five service aces, as well as seven kills. She also had a block assist in game one, which gave her the all time Miami career record for block assists, breaking the old record of 362. On Saturday versus Buffalo, Carli led the team with six service aces; she also had nine defensive digs and six kills.
For the season, Carli led Miami in kills with 285 (approximately 3 per game), 42 service aces, 83 block assists, and 347.5 points. She was also the only Miami volleyballer to play in all 99 games this season. Carli will end the season ranked in the top 10 in the conference in hitting percentage and service aces. A senior, Carli will end her career ranked in the Miami top 10 in block assists, kills, hitting percentage, blocks per game, and kills per game.
The RedHawks finished the season with a MAC record of 13-3, good for second place in the MAC East. The 13 conference wins were the most for the program since the 1998 team went 15-3 (when the MAC played an 18 game schedule). Miami's next game will be in the quarterfinals of the MAC tournament on Friday at the SeaGate Centre in Toledo. The third seeded RedHawks will play the winner of the 6/11 game, which is played on Tuesday.
