Alyssa Nye
Our new Hawk of the Week is senior field hockey forward Alyssa Nye. For the weekend, Alyssa had four goals (on 13 shots) and one assist as Miami defeated Ball State (3-1) and Central Michigan (4-2). Against Ball State, Alyssa assisted on the opening goal of the game and then - less than three minutes later - scored Miami's third and last goal of the game. Against Central Michigan, on Senior Day, Alyssa scored three of Miami's four goals for her first hat trick of the season.
For the season, Alyssa leads the team with eight goals (one shy of her career high) and 21 total points; she is also tied for second on the team with five assists. A four year starter (she has started 78 of the 82 games in which she has appeared), Alyssa has led Miami in points in each of her four seasons as a RedHawk and currently has 27 goals for her career.
Miami field hockey is currently 7-10 overall and 5-4 in the MAC (good for third place). The team completes its regular season with a road match against conference foe Missouri State. The MAC field hockey tournament begins on Thursday, November 1st in Oxford, so hopefully those Hawktalkers in the Oxford vicinity can cheer on the RedHawks in the quest for a conference title.

HONORABLE MENTION:
Honorable mention goes to freshman ice hockey forward Tommy Wingels, who had three goals and one assist this weekend as Miami defeated Ohio State twice by twin scores of 5-1. Through the first four games of his collegiate career Tommy has four goals (on six shots!) and five points, both of which tie him for the team lead.
