Cory Jones
Our new Hawk of the Week is senior football running back Cory Jones. Cory rushed for 125 yards on only 12 carries (10.4 yards per carry) with two touchdowns as he helped lead Miami to a 17-14 victory over Syracuse. Cory's first touchdown was a one yard plunge early in the second quarter, while his second touchdown capped a 14 play, 88 yard drive and gave Miami a 14-0 lead. In addition, Cory's 48 yard run in the fourth quarter was the key play in Miami's final scoring drive, which completed the RedHawk scoring with a 19 yard field goal. Cory was also Miami's second leading receiver for the game, with three catches for 21 yards.
Cory is a fifth year senior who has seen his first game action this season, as injuries to Brandon Murphy and Andre Bratton have given Cory the opportunity to shine. For the season, Cory is third on the team with 133 yards and tied for the team lead with two touchdowns.

Honorable Mention:
Michael Drobnick and the Miami Golf team: Michael was the individual medalist (first place finisher) at the Jim Colbert Intercollegiate tournament, leading Miami's golf team to its first team title since 2001. Miami beat nine other teams to win the title and finished 12 strokes better than second place finisher Kansas State. In addition, Miami golfer Ben Wood tied for second, one stroke behind Drobnick.
Miami's Volleyball team: Miami's volleyball team beat #17 OU 3-1 last week, ending OU's 64 match MAC winning streak (the last time OU lost was in 2003). The Miami victory also ended OU's 47 match home winning streak. The win was Miami's first over a ranked team in program history. Miami followed up this historic victory with a three game sweep of Kent, which moved the team to 3-1 in the MAC and into a three way tie for first place in the MAC East with OU and Kent.
