Jeff Carroll
Our new Hawk of the Week is senior baseball first baseman Jeff Carroll. Jeff went 9 for 18 (.500) this past week, with four runs scored and six RBI. His week included three 3-hit games, including two 3 for 4 efforts versus OU and a 3 for 5 effort in Miami's non conference win versus Purdue. For the season, Jeff leads Miami in batting average (.346, which ranks seventh in the MAC) and doubles (12), and is second on the team in RBI (33), slugging percentage (.465), and on base percentage (.416).
Miami baseball enters the last weekend of the regular season with the opportunity to win the MAC East title, as the RedHawks are one game behind Kent State with three more to play. After its final non conference game of the season, versus UC on Wednesday, Miami hosts Akron for its final three MAC games. Miami will then begin the MAC tournament the following weekend with an eye on the MAC title and trip to the NCAA tournament.
