Pat Sovacool
Our new Hawk of the Week is sophomore distance runner Pat Sovacool. This past weekend, Pat won the 1500 meters at the Miami Invitational with a time (3:47.37) that qualified him for the 2007 NCAA MidEast Regional meet in May. This will be Pat's second consecutive year representing Miami at the NCAA meet, as he also qualified in the 1500 meters last year. Pat's performance helped lead the RedHawks to a second place finish at the Miami Invitational.
For the current outdoor season (a total of three meets thus far), Pat has two first place finishes and one second place finish in the 1500 meters as well as a first place finish in his only 800 meter competition. During the current academic year, Pat has also competed during the indoor track and field season as well as with the cross country team. During the cross country season, Pat was Miami's top finisher at the MAC Championships and he was also named to the all-MAC Academic team.
The outdoor track and field season continues this weekend with the all-Ohio Championships in Cincinnati.
