Nathan Peavy and Tim Pollitz
Our new Hawks of the Week are men's basketball players Nathan Peavy and Tim Pollitz. Nathan and Tim both had a strong week that saw Miami defeat Northern Illinois and Western Michigan to move to a 6-3 MAC record, which includes five wins in the last six games. In Tuesday's win versus NIU, Nathan led Miami with 19 points and 8 rebounds while Tim had 18 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. Against WMU, Tim led Miami with 20 points while also contributing 6 rebounds. Nathan had 19 points, 4 assists, and 2 blocks.
For the season, Nathan leads Miami in rebounds per game (6.9) and blocked shots (25, which is fifth in the MAC), and is second on the team in points per game (14.0) and shooting percentage (50%). Tim leads Miami in points per game (14.1) and shooting percentage (52%), and is second on the team with 5.4 rebounds per game. Either Nathan or Tim has led Miami is scoring and in rebounding in all but three of Miami's 21 games thus far.
An honorable mention for Hawk of the Week should also go to Doug Penno, who has shot himself out of an early season shooting slump to hit several key three pointers in Miami's two victories this past week. A pair of three point shots from Doug helped propel Miami to the lead versus NIU and his buzzer beater against WMU gave Miami a three point victory.
This week Miami plays the last of its MAC West opponents with key games versus EMU and Ball State.
