Allison Stevens
This week's Hawk of the Week is swimmer Allison Stevens. Allison helped lead a balanced attack that saw Miami's women's swimming and diving team go 4-0 over the week to improve its overall record to 10-0 (6-0 in the MAC) and win its 45th consecutive MAC dual meet.
In the first meet of the week, Miami defeated UC 151-88 by winning 9 of the 13 events, with Allison winning the 200 yard freestyle event. Later that week, Miami beat Marshall and Radford in a triangular meet in Huntington, with Allison winning the 50 yard freestyle. Miami capped its perfect week in the pool with a dominant win over OU by winning 10 of the 13 events. In this event, Allison was the only Miamian to win multiple events, with victories in the 200 yard freestyle and the 100 yard freestyle. Allison also swam the lead lap for Miami in the 400 yard freestyle relay, an event in which Miami had the fastest time.
For the season, Allison leads Miami with 14 victories this season, including 12 in the freestyle and 2 in the butterfly. The sophomore from Laurel, MD has achieved personal bests this season in the 50 yard and 100 yard freestyle and 100 yard butterfly.
This weekend, Miami's women's swimming and diving team competes in its final two dual meets of the season, at home versus Bowling Green on Friday and at Kenyon on Saturday. Kenyon has won 20 of the last 23 Division III NCAA women's swimming national titles, including 17 straight from 1984-2000. The MAC Championships begin on February 14th.
