Amanda Jackson
Our first Hawk of the Week for the spring semester is also our first repeat Hawk of the Week for the 2006-07 school year - women’s basketball junior guard Amanda Jackson. Amanda led Miami to a 2-0 start in MAC conference play as the RedHawks won at Buffalo and at home against OU. Against Buffalo, Amanda had a double double with 21 points and 10 rebounds, in addition to five assists. The double double was the third of Amanda’s career. Eighteen of her points came in the second half as Miami turned a six point halftime deficit into a 13 point victory. In the home conference opener versus OU, Amanda had 25 points for her third consecutive 20 point game. In that game, she also had four steals and four rebounds.
For the season, Amanda is second in the conference in free throw percentage (88.4%) and steals (44) and fourth in scoring with 15.9 points per game. She has also been named MAC East Player of the Week three times already this season.
Miami’s women’s basketball team continues MAC play this week with a home game against Akron on Wednesday and a game at Kent on Saturday. Looking ahead, 18th ranked Bowling Green visits Millett Hall on Tuesday, January 16th for a key East Division matchup. BG has won 27 straight games versus MAC opponents.
