Kristina Bolterstein and Ryan Jones
In a week with multiple outstanding performances by Miami athletes, we have co-Hawk’s of the Week. Our first Hawk of the Week is high jumper Kristina Bolterstein, who set a Mid American Conference record with a high jump of 6-1 1/2 at the opening meet of the women’s indoor track and field season. Kristina’s jump broke her own Miami record, set last year at the MAC Championships and also served to qualify her for the 2007 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in March.
Kristina is a junior zoology major who is attending Miami on an academic scholarship. Last season she won five high jump competitions, including the MAC Indoor High Jump Championships, and was named to the All-MAC First Team Indoors and the All-MAC Academic Team Indoors.
Our second Hawk of the Week is hockey forward Ryan Jones. Ryan scored five of Miami’s 12 goals as Miami swept Ferris State this weekend, including his first career hat trick in Miami’s 5-3 Friday victory. His weekend performance tied Ryan for the team lead in goals with 14; additionaly, he has a seven game consecutive game point streak.
