Nathan Peavy
Our Hawk of the Week for Thanksgiving Week is men’s basketball forward Nathan Peavy. Nathan led Miami to victories over UIC and Rutgers and a near win against Illinois. Against UIC, Nathan had 18 points on 5-6 shooting, and he followed that performance up with a 22 point 11 rebound game against Illinois. That game represented Nathan’s first double-double of the season, and the eighth of his career. He almost added a second double-double the next night with 11 points and 9 rebounds in Miami’s victory over Rutgers.
For the season, Nathan is averaging 16.2 points and 6.7 rebounds per game, and has led Miami in points four times and rebounds four times (out of six) this season. Nathan is also shooting 56% thus far in 2006-07 (including 44% from 3 point range). Nathan has already been named MAC East Player of the Week twice this season.
For his Miami career, Nathan has made 62 career starts and will likely become the 31st player in Miami history to score 1,000 points later this season. The senior from Dayton was an Honorable Mention All-MAC player last season.
